Every week we bring you some top betting tips from our Brand Ambassador John Barnes.
While the Premier League enters the winter months, action on the pitch has really been hotting up. Last week’s matches saw drama at the top and bottom of the table, and with a busy Christmas period ahead, the excitement is sure to continue.
We asked Liverpool and England legend John Barnes to run the rule over this weekend’s matches, and give his predictions for the three biggest games.
Manchester City vs Chelsea
Just one point separates Manchester City and Chelsea, in a match that could go a long way to deciding the destination of the Premier League trophy in May. Antonio Conte’s Chelsea sit top having won all of their last seven games, but a visit to Pep Guardiola’s City is their toughest assignment yet. After being defeated 3-0 home and away by City last year, can the Blues pick up a result to stay ahead of their rivals?
John Barnes Tip: The BonusCodeBets ambassador doesn’t think Chelsea can make it eight in a row, but he does think they’ll pick up a point on Saturday. These two drew both of their 2014/15 fixtures 1-1, and John thinks it will be the same result again this weekend, which is available at around 6/1.
West Ham vs Arsenal
Arsenal make their first trip to the London Stadium on Saturday, hoping to stay in touching distance of the highly competitive title challengers. A 3-1 win for Arsene Wenger’s men last week sees them sitting in fourth coming into this weekend, and Wenger will know these are the sort of games he’ll need to win if the Gunners are to end their 12-year-wait for the Premier League trophy. West Ham haven’t had a vintage season, sitting in 16th, but after getting a point away to Manchester United last week, Slaven Bilic’s men will fancy their chances of winning over an Arsenal side they beat 2-0 last season.
John Barnes Tip: Arsenal returned to winning ways in the league against Bournemouth last time out, and John expects them to continue with another victory on Saturday. Surprisingly, the Gunners haven’t kept a clean sheet in six games in all competitions, with John backing the Hammers to breach Petr Cech’s defence once again. He’s tipping a 2-1 win to Arsenal.
Everton vs Manchester United
Manchester United beat Everton three times last term in what was a miserable season for the Toffees. After winning home and away in the league, Anthony Martial scored a last-minute winner for the Red Devils over Everton in the FA Cup semi-final. Having started well under new boss Ronald Koeman, Sunday’s game against United looks an important one for the Dutchman – they’ve only won one in their last nine games and are slipping down the table fast. United have been inconsistent too, and come into this weekend 11 points off the top, and eight points off fourth. Another win at Goodison would help relieve the pressure on boss Jose Mourinho.
John Barnes Tip: United have drawn five of their last seven in the league, and John thinks the points will be shared again on Sunday, with a 1-1 scoreline. Both teams appear out of form, and with goals hard to come by (both have netted just five times in their last six league games), John reckons another draw looks the most likely result.
