The Premier League season is well and truly underway as we enter the fourth weekend of the campaign’s fixtures.
The table is beginning to take shape with Liverpool, Tottenham, Chelsea and Watford taking all nine points available so far, while West Ham languishes at the foot of the league, having failed to pick up a single point.
This weekend heralds some appetising fixtures and who better to guide you through the best bets than two-time FA Cup winner and BonusCodeBets ambassador John Barnes – who’s given us his predictions to help you this weekend.
Leicester VS Liverpool
The weekend’s first Premier League fixture features leaders Liverpool who will aim to continue their perfect start to the campaign when they visit Leicester on Saturday.
A 1-1 draw at Wolves last time out saw Manchester City lose their lead at the head of the table, swiftly replaced by the Reds who are the Citizens’ most likely title rivals this season.
Meanwhile, Leicester incurred a 2-1 loss at Old Trafford in the first round of games but have since put together successive wins against Wolves and Southampton.
However, three clean sheets for Liverpool will have boosted confidence in a defence reinforced by goalkeeper Alisson’s arrival and Jurgen Klopp has been able to put out an identical starting eleven so far.
John Barnes’ tip: Leicester 1 – Liverpool 3. The BonusCodeBets ambassador thinks Liverpool are set to take their fourth straight league victory when visiting the King Power Stadium this Saturday lunchtime. John is sure that his former club will continue their goalscoring form and take the win, but that they will miss out on the clean sheet.
WEST HAM VS WOLVERHAMPTON WANDERERS
Hammers manager Manuel Pellegrini is still on the hunt for his first point this season after suffering defeats against Liverpool, Bournemouth and Arsenal.
There is hope to be found though, with Marko Arnautovic having scored in the last two games and his side created many opportunities against Arsenal, managing to maintain a 1-1 scoreline until Issa Diop’s 70th-minute own goal.
Visitors Wolves have enjoyed well-fought home draws against Everton and Manchester City but have not yet shown that they can mimic these performances when playing away from the Molineux.
Although it took a stroke of luck for their goal against Manchester City last time out when Willy Boly found the net via his hand, Wolves deserved their hard-earned point and that confidence could see them start to turn their away form around.
John Barnes’ tip: West Ham 1 – Wolves 1. All-in-all, the BonusCodeBets ambassador thinks West Ham will finally get off the mark in the Premier League this weekend but a reinvigorated Wolves side will limit them to just the single point and get their first points on the board. John fancies the game to end 1-1.
Burnley VS MANCHESTER UNITED
Manchester United was dealt a big blow with their second successive loss in the Premier League this season when hosting Tottenham on Monday, conceding three goals in each of those two last fixtures.
It would seem as though the distractions of the Europa League could be partially to blame for the Clarets letting in seven goals in their two domestic matches either side of their 3-1 defeat to Olympiacos.
Those losses came against Watford and Fulham so, despite United’s poor start to the season, Burnley has a tough task against a side who will surely be out to prove a point, having won at Turf Moor in each of the last two seasons.
Jose Mourinho’s men may have had their confidence knocked. They will know they need to respond this Sunday, particularly at the back, and they look more than capable of turning things around.
John Barnes’ tip: Burnley 0 – Manchester United 2. The BonusCodeBets ambassador thinks Manchester United will bounce back from their humbling defeat to Spurs, with Burnley set to be unable to respond. John expects a 2-0 win for the Red Devils.
