It was a good week for English teams in the Champions League this week, with Liverpool, Chelsea, Tottenham and Manchester City all landing victory.
But attentions quickly turn to the Premier League action as Manchester City look to cut the gap on current leaders Liverpool at the top of the table. The Citizens face Aston Villa in a game they should really dominate, while Liverpool face a Tottenham side that has struggled in recent weeks. Manchester City v Aston Villa
Raheem Sterling and Co turned up the heat in the Champions League in midweek when getting the better of Atalanta and will be hoping to take that form into this weekend’s domestic clash.
The Citizens closed the gap on leaders Liverpool by two points last weekend thanks to their victory against Crystal Palace and three points at home to newly promoted Aston Villa is a must.
Villa tasted victory away from home against Brighton last time out but an on-the-road victory against Pep Guardiola’s side looks unlikely, though they have scored away against Arsenal and Tottenham.
John Barnes’ tip: Manchester City 3-1 Aston Villa
The Bonus Code Bets ambassador expects the Citizens to win well at the Etihad.
Burnley v Chelsea
Chelsea manager Frank Lampard has been putting his faith in youth since being named boss and is having his fair share of success with the west London side currently sitting fourth in the table.
They also enjoyed victory in the Champions League in midweek when travelling to take on Ajax. However, Turf Moor is a tricky place to go and things won’t be easy for the Blues.
The Clarets have kept three clean sheets at home in their previous four games and won all three but Chelsea will be buoyed by the knowledge they have scored 12 away goals in their last three.
John Barnes’ tip: Burnley 2-2 Chelsea
The BonusCodeBets ambassador thinks Frank Lampard’s side will have to settle for a draw.
Liverpool v Tottenham
Sitting six points clear at the top of the table, things are going well for Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool side and they will fancy their chances of maintaining that form against an out of sorts Tottenham.
The north London side may have put in a five star performance against Red Star Belgrade, but domestically they have struggled, during against bottom side Watford and losing at Brighton.
In fact, Spurs now sit a whopping 13 points adrift of their supposed title rivals and although they are likely to raise their game here, it looks difficult to see anything other than a home win.
John Barnes’ tip: Liverpool 2-1 Tottenham
The BonusCodeBets ambassador is expecting the hosts to seal all three points.
