There are worse ways to welcome in a new decade than with a round of Premier League games. New Year’s Day football brings with it a visit from in-form Everton for Manchester City, a tasty clash between Arsenal and Manchester United, as well as the Reds versus the Blades.
This weekend we’ll guide you through Premier League betting for this week’s matches. Two-time FA Cup winner and BonusCodeBets ambassador John Barnes – has given us his predictions to help you win big this weekend.
Manchester City v Everton
Everton now have two wins from two under new boss Carlo Ancelotti but this will be the biggest test of his short reign so far, despite the fact that Manchester City have managed just two clean sheets in their last ten games. At the other end of the pitch, the Citizens have netted in all of their last six at home and have taken all but two of their seven home wins so far by at least a two goal margin.
They have had six different scorers across their last three games so, with all the above taken into consideration, I think it will be a City victory but they will forgo yet another clean sheet, despite Ederson’s return after serving a one-match ban.
John Barnes’ tip: Manchester City 3 Everton 1
The Bonus Code Bets ambassador expects Manchester City to take all three points against the Toffees.
Liverpool v Sheffield United
After securing their historic 50-game unbeaten home run, Liverpool will certainly not be looking to take their foot off the gas, even with a seemingly unsurmountable lead atop the Premier League table.
This season the Reds have scored an average over two goals per game at Anfield and there is little to suggest that they won’t keep this momentum against the Blades.
Sheffield United are, by all accounts, enjoying a solid season but taking anything from their trip to the red side of Liverpool looks unlikely at best.
John Barnes’ tip: Liverpool 2 Sheffield United 0
The BonusCodeBets ambassador thinks an exciting score draw is in the offing in north London.
Liverpool v Sheffield United
This is without doubt the biggest match of the season, with the winner likely to go on and win the Premier League title.
Liverpool will take confidence in the knowledge they beat City last time out, but the Citizens have been scintillating at home this season, so this promises to be a cracker.
With the strength in depth at Pep Guardiola’s disposal, rotating the squad slightly hasn’t been too much of an issue for the Citizens and they will arrive full of confidence.
Liverpool seem to strengthen enormously in recent transfer windows with the acquisitions of Mohamed Salah, Virgil Van Dijk and Allison so observing any business done by the Reds this January will be interesting. Jurgen Klopp’s men have been brilliant this season but they’ll need to be on form for this one.
John Barnes’ tip: Man City 2-2 Liverpool
The BonusCodeBets ambassado is expecting yet another win for Jurgen Klopp’s men.
