Game week four of the Premier League is upon us. If the matches so far are a taste of what is to come then it could make for a very interesting season.
Manchester City will still be rueing the two points dropped against Tottenham. They must make do with second spot for now, with Liverpool sitting pretty at the top.
Meanwhile, Watford are yet to register a point and Norwich’s Teemu Pukki is the joint highest-scoring player of the campaign so far. His side face West Ham at the London Stadium.
Whichever way you look at it, this weekend brings with it some appealing fixtures and BonusCodeBets ambassador John Barnes makes his predictions for three of the games here:
Southampton v Manchester United
Manchester United suffered a shock defeat by Crystal Palace last time. Jordan Ayew slotted home the opener before Patrick van Aanholt won the game in the dying minutes following Daniel James’ leveller.
Now the Red Devils come up against a Southampton side who are starting afresh following last season’s long battle for Premier League survival. Their 2-0 win over Brighton last weekend means they are in a good position to host United.
That said, they haven’t beaten United here since 2003. But they did manage to clinch a point in last season’s fixture so by all accounts it could be a close one again. However, United will be desperate to make amends after the Palace defeat.
John Barnes’ Prediction: Southampton 1-2 Manchester United
The Bonus Code Bets ambassador expects United to edge it on the south coast.
Burnley v Liverpool
Burnley may have the home advantage but they will be welcoming a Liverpool outfit who will be keen to maintain this season’s 100% record with the attacking style of football that has installed them at the top of the table.
The Reds’ win against Arsenal may not have featured their most exciting football. But they showed they can get the job done regardless and Jurgen Klopp’s men will see Turf Moor as just another step toward that elusive Premier League title.
Burnley took a respectable point at Wolves in their last league outing. But this will be a whole different animal, especially with Mohamed Salah going into the game on the back of a brace.
John Barnes’ Prediction: Burnley 1-3 Liverpool
The Bonus Code Bets ambassador believes Burnley will make easy pickings for the Reds.
Arsenal v Tottenham
Despite taking a point at the Etihad, Tottenham’s last performance was underwhelming at best. They succumbed to a first-half goal when losing against a stubborn Newcastle side.
Depending how Mauricio Pochettino’s men pick themselves up, this weekend’s north London derby at the Emirates could prove to be what they need to get their season going.
However, the stats don’t lie. Arsenal haven’t lost this league fixture at home in nine years. It looks as though stage is set for another close-fought derby.
John Barnes’ Prediction: Arsenal 1-1- Tottenham
The Bonus Code Bets ambassador thinks Spurs can get something from the game.
