Premier League Tips 18/19 – Matchweek 8

The Premier League season is in full swing as we enter the eighth weekend of the campaign’s fixtures.

The table is beginning to take shape with Liverpool, Man City, Chelsea and Liverpool at the top. Huddersfield and Cardiff have been unlucky, languishing at the foot of the league.

This weekend we’ll see the three top teams take the pitch and who better to guide you through the best bets than two-time FA Cup winner and BonusCodeBets ambassador John Barnes – who’s given us his predictions to help you win big this weekend.

Manchester United v Newcastle

Manchester United are enduring their worst ever start to a Premier League season. Jose Mourinho’s side was beaten 3-1 by West Ham last weekend. It has led to calls for him to leave. The Red Devils are already nine points off the pace set by rivals Manchester City and Liverpool. They cannot afford to drop points against Newcastle this weekend.

Newcastle themselves are having a torrid season and are one of three Premier League teams yet to gain a win in England’s top flight this season, with fans calling for owner Mike Ashley to leave. Hosts Manchester United have only won one of their previous three matches at Old Trafford. However, they should still be strong enough to see off the challenge of a Newcastle side void of confidence.

John Barnes’ tip: Manchester United 2-0 Newcastle

The BonusCodeBets ambassador expects Manchester United to bounce back with an Old Trafford victory.

Liverpool v Manchester City

The standout clash of the weekend pits unbeaten title challengers Liverpool and Manchester City together. Both are looking to assert their dominance at the top of the table.

Both sides have won six and drawn one of their opening seven games, with Liverpool ensuring their unbeaten run continued at Stamford Bridge when Daniel Sturridge scored a last-gasp equaliser against Chelsea last weekend.

That draw gave City the chance to go top on goal difference and they made no mistake in grabbing their opportunity by beating Brighton at home thanks to goals from Raheem Sterling and Sergio Aguero. The two sides have scored 36 goals between them in their opening seven games. A cagey affair is unlikely to present itself here with both teams expected to ‘attack, attack, attack’ from the start.

John Barnes’ tip: Liverpool 2-2 Manchester City

The BonusCodeBets ambassador expects Liverpool and Manchester City to share the spoils at Anfield this weekend.

Southampton v Chelsea

Only Manchester City have scored more Premier League goals than Chelsea this season. This comes as bad news for a Southampton side with just one victory from seven. Chelsea are unbeaten so far this season, winning five and drawing two, most recently against Liverpool as manager Maurizio Sarri continues to enjoy life in England.

Eden Hazard, who has netted six goals this season, has been the west London side’s star man. It would be no surprise to see the Belgian international add to his collection. Southampton’s solitary victory came away against Crystal Palace and they are unlikely to put up much of a fight against a side looking to close the gap at the top of the table.

John Barnes’ tip: Southampton 0-2 Chelsea

The BonusCodeBets ambassador expects Chelsea to continue their fine form on the South Coast this weekend.
