Most Googled Christmas Movies and Songs – Last 12 Months
According to the results of an analysis which included 200+ Christmas movies and Christmas songs, focusing on the past 12 months:
Home Alone was the most googled Christmas movie in the most UK areas – 54 – followed by Love Actually, which was the most popular Christmas movie in 19 areas.
Home Alone and Love Actually were also receiving the most average monthly searches in the UK (overall) – 165,000 monthly searches each.
Last Christmas was the most googled Christmas song in the most UK areas – 67 – followed by All I Want For Christmas Is You, which was the most searched-for Christmas song in 5 areas.
Last Christmas was also receiving the most average monthly searches in the UK (overall) – 135,000 – followed by All I Want For Christmas Is You and Jingle Bells with 110,000 average monthly searches.
Most Googled Christmas Songs and Movies - Last December Results
Since the 2024 December search results are not yet available, we also examined the search results from last year focused only on the month of December 2023. When looking only at December 2023:
Home Alone was the most googled Christmas movie in the most UK areas - 58 - followed by Love Actually, which was the most popular Christmas movie in 17 areas.
Home Alone and Love Actually also received the most overall searches in the UK (overall) in December 2023 - 1,000,000.
Last Christmas was the most googled Christmas song in the most UK areas - 69 - followed by Fairytale Of New York, which was the most searched-for Christmas song in 4 areas.
Last Christmas received the most overall searches in the UK (overall) in December 2023 - 1,000,000.
The favourite to have the UK Christmas Number One Single 2024 is Last Christmas by Wham! Methodology:
- In total, 119 Christmas Movies and 100 Christmas songs were part of the analysis
- The Google search results focused on the average monthly searches of the past 12 months as well as the month of December 2023 (separately) and they were gathered from Google Keywords Planner
- The full list of movies and songs that were part of the analysis can be found here
- Search areas with no data results were omitted from the analysis
- In case of movie/song names with titles of a general nature, we added the keyword "song" / "movie" behind its title to maintain accuracy of the analysis: for example: for the song snowman by Sia, instead of "snowman" we searched for "snowman song"
