This weeks tips from Brand Ambassador John Barnes are for the next round of the FA Cup.
The FA Cup is reaching an exciting period as the last-16 teams fight for a place in the quarter-final, just one game from Wembley. There have been a number of giant-killings this season, with Millwall and Fulham both defeating Premier League opponents in round four, and non-league Lincoln City and Sutton United both reaching the fifth round.
With the prospect of some mouth-watering fixtures, who better to guide you through the best bets than BonusCodeBets ambassador and two-time FA Cup winner John Barnes? John has given us his predictions to help you win big this weekend.
Huddersfield vs Manchester City
Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City are beginning to look like real contenders after a slow start to his tenure in charge at the Etihad Stadium. The Citizens have won four on the bounce and have moved back into second in the Premier League with their young guns repaying the faith of the Spanish maestro. The impressive form of Raheem Sterling, Leroy Sane and Gabriel Jesus has played a pivotal role in their revival on the pitch, though all three are unlikely to feature on Saturday. City have been rocked by the news Jesus is out for up to three months with a broken metatarsal suffered against Bournemouth but having Sergio Aguero as back-up is hardly a reason to be worried.
Huddersfield have performed above all expectations this season and look the most likely to breach the top two Championship sides, Newcastle and Brighton. David Wagner’s attacking philosophy is paying dividends with Izzy Brown, Nakhi Wells and Kasey Palmer flourishing under his coaching style.
John Barnes’ tip: The BonusCodeBets ambassador is backing the Premier League side to avoid an upset and move safely into the FA Cup quarters with a 3-1 victory.
Wolves v Chelsea
Chelsea are still on for a domestic double with Antonio Conte’s side looking unlikely to caught at the top of the Premier League. The Blues have been unstoppable at times this season and look to have found a tactical master in the Italian, with the 3-4-3 formation proving tough to beat. Conte is likely to rest some of his big stars and we could see the likes of Michy Batshuayi, Cesc Fabregas and Ruben Loftus-Cheek given a run-out at Molineux.
Wolves, on the other hand, remain worryingly close to the relegation zone in the Championship after suffering their third defeat on the bounce at the weekend. Paul Lambert looked to have steadied the ship and the 2-1 win over Liverpool in the previous round was a notable highlight.
John Barnes’ tip: The former England international doesn’t feel Wolves will stop the Chelsea juggernaut and believes Conte’s side will comfortably win 2-0.
Blackburn vs Manchester United
Manchester United are flying at the moment, on a 13-match unbeaten streak in the Premier League. While they currently sit in sixth, they’ll be targeting the clubs above them and a place in the top four by the end of the season. On Sunday they travel to Blackburn and Jose Mourinho also likely to give some of his fringe players a start at Ewood Park, with a big few weeks coming up. The Portuguese manager has much admiration for the FA Cup, however, and won’t be taking it lightly, with Wayne Rooney looking set to come back into contention for the Red Devils.
Blackburn are in big trouble at the moment and sit second-bottom of the Championship table. A draw with relegation rivals Rotherham, followed by defeat on Tuesday to Sheffield Wednesday hasn’t helped their situation, with key man Hope Akpan now suspended after being sent off for pushing the referee. Owen Coyle has a big job on his hands but the FA Cup could be a good distraction for his squad and the fans.
John Barnes’ tip: John’s is a 3-0 win to United, with Blackburn looking unlikely to prevent a stuffing. With the Premier League title out of the picture, the FA Cup is Mourinho’s chance for some silverware as holders United aim to retain their trophy.
