With lots to play for in this weeks round of fixtures, check out our latest betting tips for Matchweek 26.
Crystal Palace have failed to score in 5 of their last 7 matches.
Time is running out for Crystal Palace boss Sam Allardyce. The Eagles were defeated last time out against Stoke City, and they now sit joint-bottom of the table with Sunderland on 19 points. Palace spent 31 million pounds during the January transfer window, but so far this has failed to reap any rewards. The expectation is that Sam Allardyce will turn Crystal Palace fortunes around. He is a relegation survival specialist with lots of experience in these situations. With Christian Benteke up front, Crystal Palace have a top striker, and in Wilfried Zaha, they have pace and trickery that can cause problems for any defence on his day.
But goals are also a problem for their visitors to Selhurst Park at the weekend, Middlesbrough. They are the lowest scoring team in the Premier League, and they also struggle away from home, failed to win in the last eleven away matches. However, Middlesbrough are defensively very strong, so this looks like it could be a very tight and low scoring affair. With just three points between them, this is a real relegation 6 pointer that neither team can afford to lose.
Suggested bet: Under 1.5 goals @ 6/4 (Paddy Power)
There have been under 2.5 goals scored in Tottenham’s last 3 games
Tottenham have hit a bit of a blip that has seen them probably slip out of the title race, and with the competition for a top 4 spot more competitive than ever, Mauricio Pochettino will be desperate to get back to winning ways against Stoke.
They are trying to compete in 3 competitions, and questions will be asked of their strength in depth. Before the visit of Stoke, they have to overturn a 1-0 deficit in their Europa League second leg match against Gent at Wembley. So it is likely that Tottenham will not be as fresh as their opponents, Stoke, who have not played since the 11th of February.
Stoke are having a decent season by their standards, and are sitting in 9th place in the Premier League. It is away from home where they struggle, though, and they have won just 3 times away from the Bet365 stadium this season. Goals have been in short supply in Stoke matches too recently, with under 2.5 goals in each of their last 4 matches.
Suggested bet: Tottenham to win and Under 2.5 Goals @ 27/10 (Sportingbet)
Leicester have lost their last 5 matches
The Leicester rut continues, and they have begun to plummet towards the bottom 3 of the Premier League at an alarming rate. They did not rest on their laurels during the summer and spent big money to supplement the title-winning heroes such as Jamie Vardy and Riyad Mahrez. With Ahmed Musa and Islam Slimani joining their potent attack, on paper they looked an improved team. Their participation in the Champions League looks to be hanging by a thread after they were defeated by Sevilla in the first leg of their last 16 match on Wednesday, and to make matters worse they have just sacked Claudio Ranieri who brought them their title success last season.
But unfortunately for them, they face a resurgent Liverpool side that beat top 4 rivals Tottenham quite comfortably in their last match. Questions were asked of Jurgen Klopp’s men after a disastrous start to 2017, but he will be hoping that his side can build on that defeat and send Leicester one step further towards relegation.
Suggested bet: Liverpool -1 Asian Handicap @ 13/12 (BetVictor)
There have been over 2.5 goals scored in West Ham’s last 5 games
Life without Dimitri Payet hasn’t been so bad for West Ham. In fact, since his departure from the team, The Hammers have won 3, drawn 1 and lost 1. Perhaps the most impressive thing is that they have scored 11 goals in them 5 games, scoring 3 on 3 different occasions.
One of the main reasons for this upturn in attacking form is the return of Andy Carroll to the West Ham attack, to solve their striker woes this season. It is touch and go whether he will be available for the clash against Watford, but Slaven Bilic remains hopeful.
Watford are in a relatively comfortable position in the league and seem to have just enough quality to keep them at arm’s length from relegation. They were defeated last time out against Manchester United but had two 2-1 victories against Arsenal and Burnley before that.
With not a lot to play for, it is expected that these two teams can play without pressure and goals should be on the menu.
Suggested bet: Over 2.5 goals @ Evens (Bet365)
Both teams have scored in each of Chelsea’s last 3 games
Chelsea have the league in their hands, and it would take a very big slip in form for them not to be the ones raising the Premier League trophy in May. Their defeat against Tottenham in early January remains their only defeat since the start of October when they switched to their 3 at the back formation which at times looks impenetrable. But they have shown some small glimpses of vulnerability in their last 3, and have gone 3 matches without a clean sheet.
Their opponents Swansea City are in the middle of a resurgence and have won 3 of their last 4 matches, scoring in each of them. Paul Clement has crafted a team that is playing more like the Swansea of old, retaining possession excellently and scoring goals. They are still not safe from relegation and are just 4 points above the drop zone, but if they continue to play the Football they currently are, they should be safe at the end of the season. However, victory over Chelsea at Stamford Bridge looks to be a very difficult task.
Suggested bet: Chelsea to win and BTTS @ 21/10 (BetVictor)
