John Barnes Premier League Predictions 2017 - Matchweek 29

This weeks tips from Brand Ambassador John Barnes are for the next round of the English Premier League – Matchweek 29.

The Premier League is reaching a crucial period as teams at both ends of the table fight for honours or to avoid relegation. Chelsea are running away with the title and look unlikely to be stopped, but the race for Champions League spots is still very alive. With the prospect of some mouth-watering fixtures, who better to guide you through the best bets than BonusCodeBets ambassador John Barnes? John has given us his predictions to help you win big this weekend.

Manchester City vs Liverpool

This is the clash of the weekend, as two rivals both on and off the pitch go head-to-head in a crucial Premier League match. Jurgen Klopp and Pep Guardiola had some memorable battles during their tenures in the Bundesliga and now go head-to-head once again.

Manchester City will still be reeling from their Champions League exit to Monaco and Guardiola may freshen up his side after another disappointing display. John Stones has come in for more criticism following his performance, while Sergio Aguero was guilty of missing some excellent chances. Leroy Sane continues to impress and scored the goal, which City thought had seen them through, so will be full of confidence heading into the game.

Liverpool started the campaign so brightly but have struggled for consistency since beating City 1-0 on New Year’s Eve, with Klopp feeling the pressure. The Reds tend to perform well against the big sides and recently beat Arsenal. Two wins on the bounce has seen confidence return and the likes of Sadio Mane, Adam Lallana and Phillipe Coutinho will fancy their chances against a weak City backline.

John Barnes’ tip: The BonusCodeBets ambassador is backing his former side to earn a 1-1 draw at the Etihad Stadium, with the game promising to be an open affair, which you can back at 7/1 with most bookies.

Tottenham vs Southampton

Tottenham were left devastated by the news talisman Harry Kane will be ruled out for up to six weeks with a recurrence of an ankle injury suffered against Millwall. The striker is the Premier League’s top marksman but is now poised for a frustrating spell on the sidelines. Spurs must learn to cope without him and need flop Vincent Janssen to start proving his worth following his summer move from AZ Alkmaar. But with Dele Alli in their side, Mauricio Pochettino’s side still pose a real threat and despite the points difference, won’t stop hunting down leaders Chelsea.

Southampton have had a so-so season, made worse by the controversial EFL Cup final defeat to Manchester United at Wembley. Manolo Gabbiadini has proven to be a terrific signing after four goals in his first three games, and has filled the void left by the injured Charlie Austin.

John Barnes’ tip: John is confident Kane-less Tottenham will have too much for the Saints and is backing them to come away as comfortable 3-1 winners.

Stoke vs Chelsea

Stoke vs Chelsea 2017

Antonio Conte’s men are edging closer and closer to the Premier League title and made it four wins on the bounce with victory over Manchester United in the FA Cup on Monday. The Blues are 10 points clear with 11 games to play and nobody looks like stopping them. Eden Hazard, who was targeted throughout the cup clash, is thriving in the free role given to him by Conte and looks poised to be unleashed at the bet365 Stadium. But N’Golo Kante stole the show once again, with another lung-busting performance and a terrific goal, with many tipping the midfielder to win Player of the Year.

But Stoke will be no pushovers and are a tough side to beat at home, losing just one in their last eight. Saido Berahino has finally forced his way into the starting line-up following his January move from West Brom and is a talented player to watch out for.

John Barnes’ tip: The Bonus Code Bets ambassador feels this will be a tight affair but is backing Chelsea to pick up another win to edge them closer to the title. The former England international reckons Conte’s men will find it tough but backs them to win 1-0.
